  • SVO seats

I recently bought an 84 SVO and the seats are beyond repair. I don't want to spring for real SVO seats right now so does anyone know of any late model car whose seats will bolt in?

Unless I'm terribly mistaken, seats from ANY '79-'93 Mustang should fit. And I'm not sure, but maybe any '94-'03 Mustang as well.

To have the adjustable side-bolsters in your substitute seats, look for ones from a GT. My '85 GT seats are like this.

Thanks for the info. I'm in central Florida and anything more than 10 years old usually has a toasted interior. Anybody out there know if the late model Mustang seats will fit?

My educated guess would be no because they changed the "platform" meaning the floor pans probably changed as well you're definitely safe up to 93. We are now 2 generations ahead of the fox body and a lot has changed

          Mustang Parts Specialties...

Their prices are usually kinda high but they can tell you for sure what will and what won't fit. www.Mustangpartsspecialties.com

I have a set of black leather seats from a 2000 GT in my 93 2.3 LX. So I would assume the will also fit our SVOs. In fact I plan to move them into my new SVO shortly.

I would think any modern (79+) seat would bolt right in. It's the tracks that are different, not the seat. In fact, I have 2000 Mustang GT seats in my '96 Ranger. The seats bolted right on to the Ranger tracks without modification.

hey guys -- Don't forget about the fact that the SVO seats can be recovered with the E&G leather kit, and look like new!!

the E&G kit is kinda expensive, but any good set of seats will cost you more than the kit...

Even the power seats will fit. You just need to figure out where to mount the switch. MM did an article on how to do it on an SVO. The power lead can usually be found under the seat. All you need is the power seat track, the switch and 12 V power.

Thanks for the all the input. I'm pretty comfortable with the idea that I can stick any Mustang seat in the SVO. This info will make the hunt for seats much easier.

Ar your seat frames in good shape, just the upholstery damaged,
Do you have cloth or leather?
If you have cloth, and your seats otherwise good, I may have a solution to your problem.

The seat frames seem to be in pretty good shape though I can see the foam has seperated between the seat bottom and the outside driver bolster. I don't know if that is okay or if that means the foam is toast. My seats are leather. Why does it matter? What do you have in mind?

I have an 85 car with cloth seats, the bolster on the driver seat has the usual wear.
I recently purchased a complete rear seat, and the covers for the front from a 30.000 mile car that I plain to replace these with.
The covers on the front seats unzip and slip off,all the padding will be included.I believe $250.00 is a fair price for my rear seat complete, and the front covers with the cushions.
If you are interested let me know and I will post some pics.
If we make a deal my weekend project will be changing mine out.
                            Now to find thoes pictures.
