  • Shifter question

It's been awhile since I've seen the regular SVO "Hurst" shifter. Does it have the ears on it for the adjustable stops? Reason I ask mine has the ears and they're drilled and tapped for the stop bolts even... Anybody know the bolt thread size?? I'm gonna put stops on it.

Cool, I have the real/regular Hurst one. Do you happen to know the size for the bolts so I can put the stops on it? Dunno why someone would buy the shifter and take them off... But more and more things aren't surprising me as I do more to it... Nice surprises keep coming on the car!

you could just pull it off when you get to the part store or Lowes and take it with you. I put my B&M in on my lunch hour in Burger King's parking lot.

Looks like I may have to do that... It's not 1/4-20. I had one of those sitting around in a toolbox. I can just pull it off and take the 93 to the store! Just got off the phone w/Hurst and they don't have abreakdown of the bolt sizes... Time to go spray it down with purple cleaner in there and pull it off for a trip to Lowes tomorrow....

Hmmm, I wonder if Ford/Hurst "ran out" of the SVO shifter or something. There was a good 25 years worth of crap on that thing.... And it still has some on it. Maybe they got it for the same price as the non-stop version w/no stop bolts on it from Hurst if that happened... Who knows, only Ford.... Or maybe the p.o. put it on right after he bought it....

Duh, I forgot about that. I think I still have his # here somewhere. I'll check with him tomorrow if I do. If not I'll let you know. Plus it even has the handle with the rubber isolator on it too. And it's got the larger bolts bolting it on also. Not the little black ones. He'd like to hear how its going with the car anyway. Told me he wanted to see it on the road again.

5/16-24. Lowes only had 1 in or 1 1/2" (plus these had way too long of a shoulder). I want to find someone who has one sitting open to be able to measure the original ones for me. Then I'll hit Fastenal and get the right length ones. I got ahold of the p.o. this evening, he was very excited that I got it runnning! Said he ad spent like 2-3 grand with this one mechaninc trying to get it running right... I hope he doesn;t go there anymore. All that and he didn't even pop the cam cover? He did have the shifter replaced a couple of times early on when he had it. Thinks he may have the box laying around somewhere. He's going to see if he can find it. I got his email to send hime some pics.
