  • squeak/squeal noise when taking off

Ive read all different types of noise results in posts but cant match an exact one , when I take off in first gear there is a squeak or squeal and and again into second gear. After that it drives no problem with no noise until starting in first gear again. It doesnt do it when idle or when reving it at a stand still either. The noise only happens when starting out in gear . Ive heard some other throw out bearing noises on other listings, and not the sound I have, could this possibly be the problem? what about a bad universal joint would it make this type of noise? Or even a motor mount? I installed a new power steering pump since it was shot so that didnt change much very hard to really pin point.

A/C belt slipping or A/C compressor clutch bearings.

e-brake cables. generally they keep squeeking tho.
check your drive-shaft for shiny spots

brakes would be a good guess too. some pads just squeek when taking off.

          checked out items no luck.

First thanks for the replys. Well I took all the belts off and took a quick spin , still have this noise very annoying, sounds almost like a bird , looked at the driveshaft no rubbing from cable, man I'm just stumped on this one. Only thing that I have changed are rims and tires with 225/45/17 no rubbing there either.

U-joint?? Pull the drive shaft and flex the joints by hand.

My guess too. Clutch to pulley clearance too close.

C'mon guys.....yer gettin old! He took the belts off!

Does this noise increase in speed/frequency as the speed of the vehicle OR engine increases or is it constant?

On the RW, the rubber bushings on the quad shocks squeak when I take off and then everything else becomes to loud to hear after 2nd gear. You can check this by bouncing the rear end when parked.

Yes the noise will increase when giving it more throttle but will only do this up to second gear. Otherwise there is no noise when crusing its only when starting off out of first gear. Is there any bearing that would cause this noise in the clutch/tranny area? Thanks again for the replys much appreciated. I hope to find this soon. The rear quad shocks do squeak when bouncing rear drivers side, would this get louder with more excellerating? Its really hard to pinpoint exactly what part of the car its coming from, to me it sounds like its from the front drivers side but like I said its tough to determain.

There's the pilot bearing in the crank that the input shaft tip goes into. The throwout bearing. Also a bearing on the input shaft under the bearing retainer. Plus various other bearings in the trans...

What about the seldom discussed "chirping" from the front of the cam/seal, or something like that. Mine has "chirped" forever but never amounted to anything.

might also check the spring isolators.. the springs load and unload as the load shifts during acceleration.
