Gas Cap & Flap

I'm sure there is an easy answer... but how do I open the Gas cap flap? On my 93 you just pull it open. I attempted this on the 84 and it didn't move. I took a quick look inside but couldn't find a mechanism to open it... what am I missing??

Your button in the glove box not working?

In the spare tire well there is a nylon string emergency pull that will pop it open, or (if the string is gone), you can lay under the car and look up and see where to pull the little lever so it will pop open.

When I got my '84, the fuse was blown that the button in the glove box used. Replaced it, trouble free since.
