  • replacement wings

I was just wondering if anyone had opinions about getting a company to make replacement SVO wings? I think they would sell well, both to SVO owners and any plain jane hatchback owner. Big wings are in. I guess I'm just surprised that someone is making inner marker lenses for a small market like us and not making big wings for a potentially large market. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to see a bunch of other Mustangs trying to look like SVOs, but it would be a product that would appeal to SVO owners, people who appreciate SVOs, and plain old...hate to say the R word....ricers.

My wing is cracked and I would pick up a new one and paint it body-color if the price was right...anyone else interested?

Definitely.....its funny that I talke dto late model restoration and asked them whether they were going to do repro lights. The guy said it would be too expensive for a small market....but I guess the guy from NC was able to pull it off. Heheh on the same note I have no idea why someone hasn't come up with repro SVO/Cobra tailights, they can't cost that much to make....come on some of those "euro" tails look way more complicated than a pair of LX lights with some stirpes on them

Dugan Racing use to make a SVO "type" wing ... as it wasn't an exact copy of the original. That was years ago .. and I recently *heard* through the grapevine that Dugan was either bought out or closed it's doors.

        I kinda tried...

I sent an email (some time ago) to Cervini's and gave them a heads up on the demand and typical cost of what the upper spoilers for our cars run. I also mentioned that if they offered them as an aftermarket replacement, they would be a sole source (i.e =make lotsa $$) vendor. I was pretty bummed when I never recieved a reply.

Interesting. At first glance, the top wing looked pretty good. The bottom spoiler caught my eye as something was not right. Was it that funny looking fiberglass lip around the edge or the uneven edge? No. Upon closer inspection, it was the lack of a square edge to line up with the top spoiler. The bottom spoiler looks pretty bad. The top one just looks too thin. The add mentions fiberglass. The original ones are not. These must be some type of reproduction is my guess.

              SVO wing

The lower is actually a copy of a STEEDA rear spoiler. He must have just had it in the picture. The auction is just for the upper. The upper is a copy of a SVO upper spoiler. It does look thin. If it's fiberglass, I don't think it will last.

                Upper?

I'll stick with the local body shop fixing mine right now.....Do you know that the upper is in two pieces? He has is it opened up & we are putting two pieces of steel inside with gorilla haired fiberglass.......It won't crack again and I should be able to mount a tow ball to it to pull a jet ski....

What part of Tampa are you from Kiwi? I now live off Waters Ave in Tampa, my SVO is still in Daytona (with a cracked wing) and would like to see your repaired one.

I noticed the guy doing the fiberglass repros lists his location as Miami. I'll try to contact him tonight and see if he'll let me come by and check them out since I have to go to Miami for work tomorrow( I hate going to Miami).

Don't get me wrong. I support anyone trying to help our hobby. Unfortunately I was distracted by the lower wing. If properly reinforced, fiberglass should hold up well on the upper.

I talked to the guy today he owns a Mustang shop in Miami . He recently bought an SVO and noticed no one made repros of the wings so he his having a guy make them for him and see what kind of interest there is.He also having side spats made. I'm going to try to go there next week and take a look at them. I'll keep you guys posted .
