View Full Version : Which car should I take??????

10-11-2010, 05:03 PM
Alright everyone
the reunion is coming FAST !!!! I have myself booked for the autoX
problem is the 4e is giving me issues with tuning that I dont know if I can solve ( bonus is Alex could help at the reunion ) if this can get figured out I possibly could run the car
Now if I dont bring that car I will bring the 1e it runs and all but is not as much "FUN" as the 4e.
I will need to change the rear outer bearings on the 1e (noise) before I go but that is only a few hours
any suggestions??????

I thought you had a truck and trailer?

10-11-2010, 05:38 PM
Bring both.

Have Mike Fleming and Alex work on the software fixes. That will keep them busy and away from being under everybody else's hood. ;)

I do have a truck and trailer, so either way I will have an SVO there.
it is a question of do I bring one that will need work and possibly get it running right
or bring the sure thing and enjoy the festivities ...just it wont be as fun a car as the other

what to do

10-11-2010, 06:36 PM
bring the sure thing. if you cant get the 4E sorted ... it sure as heck wont be fun.

If you bring the one that needs help, you will have more helpers than in the other 51 weeks of the year.

^^^^ I'm not sure if that's good or bad!!! %)

There is a Dyno here Mr Flemming and AlexL could be helpfull
Think green
You could drive old blue with tires, if greenie does not make it to sunday
We could get a head start at my place with a full set of tools any night this week

Bring both.

Have Mike Fleming and Alex work on the software fixes. That will keep them busy and away from being under everybody else's hood. ;)

Make sure to bring the laptop with the battery that only lasts for 15 minutes at a time. It's entertaining to watch the nearest outlet hunt.

Now if I dont bring that car I will bring the 1e it runs and all but is not as much "FUN" as the 4e.

The 4e sure did look like a lot of fun by sitting in the hotel parking lot while every one else autox'ed last year.

bring the one that don't need any work, so you can help me work on mine, AGAIN :)

I'd bring the one I know I can drive.. myself.. but up to you,
We might be able to figure out what's up with the green car, but if it's something we can't fix on the spot.. you'll have more fun with the 1E

Bring the 4e after you call me today and we get your tuning issues fixed well enough to bring it down :p and if there are any lingering issues, we'll square em at the reunion.

For some reason im reminded of the old joke:

"Did you hear about the guy who died waiting on his doctors opinion ? None of them could decide what was wrong."

Bring the 1E to the reunion.
Take the 4E to "A" doctor when you get home.

Bring the 4E. There will be some good help there for tuning in a relaxed atmosphere. It is a great opportunity to forge some friendships and have some fun at the same time and it's activities like tuning that we all learn from. The things I remember from past reunions are the challenges we face, a turbo, brakes beside the road, Pat doing wheel alignments, brakes in the parking lot, changing out a rear end, an engine. That's the stuff of memories. I can also tell you that if the car is not ready you can borrow a car for the autoX. It might be an opportunity to evaluate some future mods or tires. Plus for a lot of us it's a chance to see a 4e and that's rare in itself. Just remember when the wires go back on it's 1-3-4-2 and not 1-4-3-2 and don't let Chaulky adjust the boost controller!

I agree with Bud,Eric and Gator I wish sometimes I had another one to choose from.

10-12-2010, 01:49 PM
Well I am conflicted.
I can drive the 4e around it idles well, accellerates pretty good, it is just trailer hitching while at cruise/constant speed.
I hear all the points towards taking the 1e it will get me there and do everthing.
but the 4e needs attention from the guys that will be there and it is easier in person rather than long distance.
I am going to try some things and call Alex in a bit see what he has to say
