  • Exhaust system/Radiator

Hi-my first time here. I have an 85.5 SVO; few years back I put a Dynomax 2 1/4" cat-back system on it--didn't get the aluminized pipes, either. Now, it's rusted, plus a muffler is banged in 'cause it dropped a little and a speed bump got it.
Anybody know if a standard 2 1/2" LX system will fit my SVO?
I have the 'y' pipe of course, but want at least a 2 1/2" system this time, and don't want to pay the big bucks for a custom 3" system. Any recommendations?

Also, ever since I've had this car, it tends to overheat when at rest/in slow traffic/or after prolonged boost/etc.; I've put 180 deg. thermostats in it, helps some, but I've been thinking of putting a 3 row radiator in it now--it still has the stock rad. in it.
    Any experience/recommendations out there?

This is a Great forum--I've already been considerably helped by many of the threads--glad to be here!

Your overheating problem is probably the elec fan.

if the car never gets hot when driving, but it does when stopped, you can pretty much bet it is the electric fan.

This is a common svo problem. Even when the fan does work right, it doesn't kick on til about 210 deg or so, which is too hot in my opinion,.

I have a adjustable fan controler on order from SVP, I'll do a product review when I get it.

if the fan isn't cutting on - then more likely it's not the FAN but rather the fan RELAY that's under the dash. It tends to burn out so much that alot of people wire in a manual toggle switch.

          exhaust/radiator

          Thanks, guys.
I do not yet have the manual fan switch, but I will. I've been checking out the SVP site for recommended products, as well.

I saw the thread about exhausts, the MAC getting a good review, the Borla's as well. I obviously put my initial thread in the wrong section, eh?
Any more input wrt exhaust--2 1/2" or greater, two tailpipe systems?

And, any experience with 3 row vs. 2 row radiators? Will it fit stock-like, or???

          Thanks much for your time(s).

            For the fan...go here:

            http://www.davecompton.com/svofanmod.html

That should help you out. It contains the principle behind doing the mod. and even a schematic to wire it up! Very good, and easy to do! I just mounted a toggle switch under the dash.

            Hope that helps!
