  • Strut tower brace?

Would a 79-85 strut tower brace clear the svo intercooler? It looks like it has enough room but i cant tell for sure. If not who makes one to fit the svo and about how much do they go for? Thanks a lot!

Here's a link...only one I know of. Sacramento Mustang sells the same one....

    Strut Tower Brace

Click on tower braces, and you will see it. The normal Mustang ones will not clear the intercooler...I have one sitting here waiting for the FMIC upgrade to take place...(read: get off my lazy butt and do it)

        Rich, Excellent link! ......

I'm still trying to envision it in my engine bay & IF you had a moment could take a pic of yours "setting" in place? I want to make sure it clears everything........Or if I could somehow get a drawing....

Let me know how that one fits. I have been looking at it for some time and am very interested. I also have a Spearco FMIC waiting to go in though, so I still have yet to figure out all my plans.

BTW - I highly recommend Global West...I have their Subframe connectos and just order a set of their rear control arms.

            Kiwi-

That is not the one I have. I have a normal 79-93 strut tower brace. It will not fit with the intercooler in place. I was going to a FMIC anyway, so I bought one that ties into the pinch welds on the firewall for the increased strength, not worrying about the intercooler clearance...

I think Lonchair has this one, but I don't think his is mounted yet either...maybe he could post a pic...

I know the 87-93 wont fit but there is on for 79-85 (the carbrator cars) it looks like it might clear becaise it looks more open than the ones for EFI cars, but it probably wont just wondering. Thanks

                Guys,

I can tell you from looking that the only thing that is going to fit the stock setup is one that was made for it. Even the ones for carbed cars don't work. They don't miss by much, but they still don't clear. Very frustrating...

Global West has been making these for years, and if I had known, I would've just bought it. I just figured that since I was going to do the FMIC anyway, then I wouldn't worry about clearance issues. So, needless to say, I have just had to do
without, until I get that done.

So, if you want to keep it stock, go with Global West. Otherwise, I would suggest one that hooks up to the pinch welds on the firewall...they are alot stronger. Another good one (non-SVO) is the one from Maximum Motorsports...Here
