  • fuel pump run with key off(sometimes)

    hello,
on my 86 svo the fuel pump occasionaly continues to run after i turn the key off. also when it stays on i can hear a hissing noise from the return line where it conects to the fuel rail. so before i start changing parts (fpr , injectors, relays etc. ) i thought i might ask for advice.
    thanks

You should not have any "hissing" noises unless there is a leak somewhere...do you smell any fuel??

Your pump should not run without the key on, I would check the fuel pump relay under the driver seat and make sure it is not sticking....

If the relay is sticking - you'll hear the pump running - relay is located under the driver's seat.Had the exact same thing happen to me once...

      hissing? dunno about that one.

could the hissing be fuel cycling past the regulator?? there are no leaks or fuel smell???????

Well, if the pump is running then you could be hearing the fuel passing to the return line back to the tank....
