Interior Paint

I see that SVPU do not carry the orginal interior paint anymore so had anyone found anything that will work?

Actually, the stuff they carried was made by Ford.. Ford quit making it, so I believe he is searching for something that will match.

You can get a match at your local paint store but you have to spray it through a gun w/ air compressor. I am looking for a good spray can replacement but have not found it yet....SEM Smoke D is the closest but is still not right and the paint in the yellow cans sold by every Mustang parts place out there isn't even remotely close to matching!!!!!!!!!

I'll keep looking...but nothing yet. Duplicolor original made Ford's paint and I have called them but despite promises of a call back I never get one....

Interior Paint

I have used SEM brand interior paint.
Graphite part #15303 in a spray can.
The color on the cap looks too dark, but matches the SVO gray very good when sprayed on dash pad and plastic panels.
It can be found in some NAPA stores and from car detail suppliers. I painted my dash pad on my 85 GT 3 years ago and still looks new. I painted some of the faded parts on my 84 2A svo with it and it matches the original perfectly. I hope this helps and good luck.

Paint code

SVOPaul is there anyway that you can give the paint code or however they are listed for the matching paint that must be sprayed on through a gun.

I don't have books dated back that far but any shop that sells paint to autobody shops should have the color chip books which list exterior, interior and wheel paint codes. Just look at a 1986 book and go for the interior charcoal...

From the picture it looks like smoke or oxford grey is the color of the svo grey interior. Take down the number and go see it in the store to be sure, last time I went they custom mixed the interior dye for me and it matched perfectly.

If you don't have a gun go and invest in that little porter cable gravity fed gun at Lowes (sata knock off), it'll do the job nicely and for only $50 and being able to use it on most any compressor due to low cfm requirements it is a definate great tool to have.

I just talked to the guy who mixed the paint for the exterior of my car he told me mixing up the interior paint and putting it into a custom spray bomb will cost 19 dollars ( canadian funds )
he wants me to bring an un-faded piece with me to check the match.
I am going there after work friday I will update when I get it
and show pics
