  • Idler Arm?

There's noticeable play in the steering wheel, I figured I replace the idler arm once I got around to it - but yesterday I felt a bump in the steering column when I was counter-steering from a sharp turn (happened a few times). Any ideas? Would the idler arm cause that too?

    Thanks

    heheh --hohohoohh-- hahaha

    SVO's don't have idler arms --

Most likely your problem is the steering coupler.

It's a utherane piece that goes between the rack and steering shaft. It helps dampen vibrations from the steering wheel.

You can pick one up from auto-zone, in the help section. There are 2 different sizes, and I can't remember which one to get, but if you read the back, it says ford, the other one is for imports.

Ouch!! Well, that changes my perspective on the issue...hehe. Thanks for setting me straight Eric

Man - I have too much to learn about these cars - I guess it'd help if I got under it and checked my assumptions first

I'll check AutoZone for a steering coupler and see where it takes me. Thanks again!

don't look too hard, it's just a little round thing, with 4 holes in it.
