  • Bi-wing installation question

I am installing a new bi-wing on my 1D. My question is, should I use something to seal around the holes to prevent water from leaking into the hatch? I think the answer is yes, but what should I use?

    thanks.

    Seal?

I've heard/is on my car a black water based silicon (Home Depot)/ I've also heard to use a double sided sticky felt.....

You should use the same thing you use to put in quarter windows. (butane ??) It works well, and is pretty cheap. I picked up some from auto-zone for like $7

It comes in a roll, and is black and gooey. just pull off a small piece , and wrap it around the bolt, then put it through the hole. -- it will spread out when you tighten it up.

        caulk

Also known as rope caulk. Made by 3M I believe. Any body shop supply will have it. I think the butyl stuff is more to stick to glass but it will probably work too.

3M sells it as "Strip Calk" . It comes in black and gray. It is a moldable non-hardening putty that you form to seal around the holes.
