I would like to install a completely new exhaust system on my 86 SVO. I would like to replace everything, install a 3" Down pipe, new CAT, dual mufflers. Modern Performance in N.J. sells a complete kit. Does anyone have an opinion about their system? I am not an exhaust specialist nor a master mechanic and I am looking for something that is a bolt-on kit. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
If you call nick he wont sell a bolt on kit. You have to drive down there to have him instal it. I would recomend it anyway. Exaust is a pain in the A##. I am unaware of any weekend warior kits except for ATR but dont get me started about them.
I am running a Sac 3" pipe with a cat cut into it. and a 2.5" dual borla cat back system(no longer available) .
Probably best to get all the components and have an exhaust shop do the install. That is unless you got a torch and lift.
Here's the "kit" that I made up for my car: Down pipe: ATR 3 inch or Sac Mustang 3" (I ran both on the same cat back setup) Currently the ATR pipe has the end frpm the Sac pipe on it so iy is a bolt on conection instead of a weld or clamped connection to the Y-Pipe. Cat. Converter: Dynomax Hiflow 3" (from Mustangs Unlimited) Cat will have to be sectioned into the ATR or Sac Mustang down pipes Y Pipe: Walker replacement #43982 (from Mustangs Unlimited) Y-Pipe is direct replacement for 85.5 & 86 SVO and 85 GT Mufflers: Your choice Tail Pipes: Dynomax replacement #s 45060 & 45059 (from Mustangs Unlimited) Pipes are direct replacement for 85.5 & 86 SV0, 86 GT, and 87-93 LX.
