  • Power Window Malfunction

My driver's side power window suddenly quit working this afternoon. The switch still operates the passenger side, however. Any diagnostic tips? The window is stuck all the way down, so thank goodness it's summer!

    Maybe?

Switch maybe/ pull switches out (& if enough wire) & swap plugs and try again....A lot better than the motor going bad.....

Mine will do this occasionaly and all it does is the window gear will slightly disengage from the motor gear. A little tug upwards while pressing the switch will fix it. Sometimes, tho I have to loosen the motor bolts to get it to re-engage.

I haven't however figured out why this happens.

The window disengaging from the motor gear sounds like a good bet. I've noticed that the window will "skip" often times when I lower or raise it. It did that yesterday and paused before it went all the way down. I'll check it out tonight.

also, I have had the motor freeze in the down position. a couple of taps on the motor body with a hammer while holding the switch in the 'up' position might work. (just like it will with a starter motor)

Most likely its the gear pack and/or the bushings in the gear pack.
