  • Door Lock Actuators

Both my power door lock actuators have bit the dust. Making things worse the passenger side is jammed up making it nearly impossible to lock and unlock the passenger door. I did some checking and found that replacement actuators can be rather expensive. Being the frugal person that I am, I did find an alternative to the expensive replacement. Here is a link to the cheap actuator.

Has anybody else used this type of actuator or does anybody have any useful suggestions?

    Thanks

I added these same PDL actuactors to my 93 ranger when I added a alarm with keyless entry. They work good, but it will take some modifications to make them work.

You can get booth door lock actuators in a ket form from 5.0 Resto for $89. Here is the link.

        ...actuators..

Check EBAY, there is a fellow that sell these actuators very cheap, I think $40 a pair (he has them for auction). My son bought them for his 89 LX and they are fantastic..all instructions and took 10 minutes to put in....good luck..

My Ex had one jam up in the drivers door. I took it out and pulled the rod up and lubed with a little moly or silicone grease, dont remember what one now. Thr rod is twisted so it took a couple or trys, and it worked great, replaced the boot and hooked back up! Til the time I broke up w/her (1 1/2 years later) it was still working....

I bought a couple of those from that guy for my SVO. Although it seems the ones Carl has found are the exact same thing and wayyyyy cheaper ($3.37 each )

Yeah, they work good, but they don't mount in the stock location. You attach the actuator to the upper door lock rod, so it pushes it up and down. I guess you could also do it differently, they're pretty universal. I'd recommend them just because they are tons cheaper than the ford ones.
