  • cleaned rims

I liked the thread the others wrote and the results they got were amazing enough to inspire me to give it a turn so to speak

I sand blasted the slots and the backside and mounted the rims in a lathe and proceded with emory paper of different grits
and left it with the factory look (concentric lines around) just a lot cleaner. I then clearcoated them

    Approximate time 10 min blasting
    20 min sanding
    5 min clearcoating

          Roberto,

Those look great...great work! What was the address to send mine to again?

Why can't any of you guys with the great tools ever live by me?

                Hmmm...

I now have another use for my 17 inch South Bend lathe. Thanks for the inspiration. Did you chuck it up with the jaws or did you use a dummy hub?

I chucked it up with a dummy hub

and used 120grit and finished it off with 280 to give it that machined look I turned it both clockwise and ccw

                    Nice!

Nice wheel job, Roberto. The thought occurred to me that, since I don't have access to a lathe that big, I could use the one that came with the wheels - the car! Put the rear axle on jack stands & let it idle in 5th gear and presto! - a lathe. I haven't tried it, so I can't guarantee it would work. Any thoughts?

                      Large Portable Lathe...

                      svohoo,

Hmmmm......I think you might be on to something there!

Would you just use a sanding block with that?
