  • Silly anal question on Koni's

My old & worn out original Koni struts, which are about to be replaced, are scuffed (all the red paint has been scrapped off by the black protective strut shaft cover) Is this preventable? Being the control freak that I am, I hate the idea that my new struts are going to get marred up. Is it a sign of a problem? I am pretty sure I have seen this on other Mustangs (not necessarily SVO's)

    Mustangs I have Owned: 79 Cobra 2.3 Turbo, 88 LX 5.0 Notchback, 86 SVO 2R.

yes - it's completely preventable ...with one drawback...you can't drive the car.

Sorry Mike....unless you remove the black plastic cover - it'll continue to rub. I thought about the same thing when putting my green car back together - but could come up with nothing.
