  • Snap off ignition switch bolts

Hey has anyone had to replace their ignition switch??? Another briliant engineering feat by Ford using snap off heads on the mounting bolts. Does anyone know where I could get two of these and if there is a substitute for them????? Thanks

I believe the thread is 12-24. The screws are 3/8" long. When I did mine I drilled the heads out like a rivet, then slid off the old ignition switch and unscrewed the headless screws with visegrips. Mike's method is a bit more elegant. Plus, you can reuse the old screws!

The replacement screws I got were round head phillips, purchased at OSH.

When I did the recall switch in my 92 LX it had the theft proof torx screws with the new switch...

          Found out thread size

The bolt is metric and its a #6-1.0 X 10mm......perfect match at home depot on their thread guage apartus....I found it there in a bag of 3 and it fits like a charm!!!!!
