So what you are saying it that these things could be faked quite easily. Buyer beware? Have you heard about this guy in Espanola, Ontario, Canada that supposidly got ahold of the numbers from Ford and can tell you when the car in question was produced and other relevent info? Is this too good to be true?

Use the Third Generation Registry
Use the Third Generation Registry and pay the $10 and get a print out showing production date, what number built that day, what number / sequence yours was built, and total made for your color interior / combo. One way of telling a comp prep that can be used is the "punch out" on the firewall where the A/C lines pass through to the interior. If it is still in place from the factory then it "should" be a comp prep. There are also comp preps with dealer installed A/C. And of course somebody could always find a LX body with no A/C and build a clone. The best / quickest way to tell is if they have a copy of the window sticker.

mine states exactlyOriginally posted by bob tweedy
concerning the 999 report- if it is a true comp car it will state"competition prepared option".
the only "delete" item was the radio and it will reflect "radio delete".
