  • Help with speedometer cable removal

Ok, I have the cable disconnected from the speedometer and pulled to the firewall/W rubber grommet removed but cant get it out past the thick rubber firewall mat. I have a feeling the new cable will feed in better than the old one will come out. Should I just cut the old one? Of coarse with my luck the new one won't go in and I'll be out of luck.
    Thanks for any help!

    Helpful tip

You can get just the inner speedo cable core at Autozone for <$4 and just slide it right in. Then you don't have to remove the outer housing.

    Info from their site:

    complete assy: CA-3011 $17.99
    speedo core: CA-4001 $3.97

"** MAY NOT FIT ALL APPLICATIONS COMPARE TO ORIGINAL ** EACH CORE KIT INCLUDES THE APPROPRIATE LENGTH OF REPLACEMENT CORE CABLE, UNIVERSAL METAL TIP WITH SQUARE DRIVE, 2 SPACER WASHERS, & STAKING TOOL."
