Pads
Oh yeah, i forgot why i posted this in the first place. It wasn't like i was trying to show off or anything. I was gonna ask what pads would probably be best considering the car doesn't really see any sever driving(autoX) and considering price and reliability.
You guys may laugh at me and call me stuff but since my friend worked at autozone and i was still in school (limited budget) and needed new rotors anyway, im using Autozone's Semi Metallic pads. They were about $80 for all four corners and they are lifetime warranty too (which is retarded for them). They work great and not too much brake dust. After the first few hundred miles they are kinda noisy when cold though.
Anyone got any ideas on what pads would be good or if these are good enough? I don't really road race except for drifting and drag race it occasionally. It is my daily driver and i like the fact that dust is minimal.Izzy Lopez

If you are happy with them, and you aren't open-track, (auto-x is usually short enough that you don't heat the brakes up that much)
I'd say use them--
the only bad thing about the autozone semi-metalic pads is-- sometimes they are harder than the rotors -- so their lifetime pads don't wear out, but they will eat through a set of rotors in about 40k-60k milesEric C

Rich,
Yes, I have been using the Stillen metal matrix pads with stock rotors, and they seem to be working pretty well. I have about 5 - 6000 miles so far, but I haven't taken a close look at the rotors to check for wear. I think they claim that the pad material is softer than the rotors, so they shouldn't be too hard on them. One caviat with that might be, for example, stainless steel is a lot harder than ice, but skate blades get dull after a while & you still have to re-sharpen them.
I like the performance - a panic stop with a good set of tires will dang near yank your eyeballs out. I'll have to take a look at my rotors to see how they look & I'll try to get back. I definitely recommend making sure they are nice & flat.David

I know that Stillen advertises them as being softer, but I figured that was in relation to the STILLEN rotor...whether they are a different material or not, I do not know. I am going to give them a try with the TMD rotors, and see how they do. I just bought a house, and it is presently being restored, instead of my car...so I don't know when I will get to it, but hopefully in the next month or so.

I would like to suggest Bendix semi metallics - I've had great experience with this brand. When O'reilly's stop selling them a while ago - I tried their lifetime brand on my truck and it was nothing but noise and grinding
I looked up a dealer for the Bendix pads and stayed with them. I don't know what pads were on my SVO when I bought it - but the Bendix pads worked a lot better. They are softer than rotors - so there is no lifetime warranty. Performance is great and I plan to use them for autoX. I'm sure the price is cheaper than a performance brand-name pad - so that may fit your budget if you want to try them. Also, I just put some Bendix rotors on my wife’s car - it was about $10 more then turning the old ones. I was very impressed with them too. Hope this helps
Thanks

There that does it..........
I was very skeptical about buying aftermarket rotors for this vehicle becuase of the weird wheel configuration and all the other fitment issues..but I am going to purchase them now that I have seen them on an SVO...
and I am staying with the Bendix Brand....they get rave reviews from me...

Autozone pads
Ok guys, i know i said in an earlier post that there was slight noise but now it driving me nuts! I hate these pads. I don't really want some really expensive pads since im only daily driving it, not really racing it. Plus i plan on the 13" rotors soon, then ill invest my money. Any other ideas on pads? Sounds like thos Stillens are pretty good huh?

Back several years ago -- I used to be able to get ORGANIC pads for my mustangs (didn't have a SVO at the time)
I liked them because of the feel, and they were nice and quite -- the usually only lasted about 25-30k miles, but when I pulled them out, the rotor looked exactly like it did when I put them on.
I don't know if you will be able to find a set of not- but just a sugestion.Eric C

Organic pads!
Yup They make them! i have a set of them on my SVO and yes they are guiet. I not sure how long they will last but being on the back I am sure longer than the front would. No problems since brake over haul! Jeff just my 2 cents worth!

The 84 SVO's came from Ford with organic, non metallic pads. They were quiet, worked well for street driving and were easy on the rotors! I got 165,000 miles out of the rears and 175,000 miles out of the fronts. When I took things apart, the rotors were like new, front and rear!
