I posted this on the corral, since this should be typical for all stangs of similar configuration. I thought I'd get a more response, but got none.
I had my interior completely out, and am finally getting the headliner, etc. back in. It's an 85 SVO with the standard dome light and the little aimable map light.
I have the whole drivers side apart and can't find any wire that would lead up to either of them.
What color should these wires be, and what harness do they come off of? Where do they gor up? A pillar, pillar behind the door, behind quarter window? It's been too long since I took it apart!
Also, I have a female spade connector, and a round ground type connector that are in the same harness as the drivers side seatbelt buzzer wires. Does anyone know what these are? They're not anything critical, because I've been driving the ccar with them unhooked.
And as a tech tip, I relocated my fuel pump relay to the drivers side kick panel. There is enough wire there, and it fits fine... No more snagging it whil vacuuming, or sliding your map under the seat.

so this was fairly easy for me. Where the wires start from I don't know but they exit from a square hole in the roof sheetmetal right where the passenger handle is mounted. A blue/black goes to the center dome light. A blue/black and a green/yellow goes to the front dome/map light. The blue/black goes to the front left mounting screw on the dome/map light it powers the dome. The green/ yellow goes to the center screw and powers the map light . If you don't have the factory harness which has special ends on it so that when the screws go through it it powers the light, you can probably just splice into the wires on the dome/map light. Hope this answers most your question.
