  • Rear Brakes one side Hot!

Just reolaced the rear cal's with rebuilt ones with steal pistons. The parking brake works better than ever! The thing is took out for a drive since had time to just to do that! Smelt something like wire burning? Got home looked around under the hood nothing! So something told me to check the back wheels? Driver's side fine a little warm normal for stoplight traffic! The passenger side very warm almost hot! Pulled the wheel and looked fine, not dragging just hot and that nasty smell! Got the fiber pads from raybestis. Any help will do! Think that the cal is sticking? thanks Jeff Dunevant

      Rear brakes!

Hey that sounds like it will do the trick! I just put them on by feel and not by specs? So they probaly are draging to make them hot! I will check them tomorrow in Daylight! Thanks for the Help1 Jeff

          ..what tools????

..what tools did you guys used to retract the caliper?.....I ahve tried different ones and can not find the proper disk to attach to the compressing tool...it seems that none of the discs fit the piston 2 holes....
          thanks for any help...

            Tools for Cal piston!

The tool I used was from Auto Zone or Advance and even NAPA has them! It is unversial so you know what I mean, If the piston is old it will be hard to turn but patience is your best freind. Let me know if you need any other info? Jeff D.

Thanks Jeff, I will follow your lead but in the past I have tried the cube that is sold in most stores and it was short (the 2 pins in reference to the 2 holes in the piston) then i bought a recommended kit that has many size discs and it was the same story. My calipers are SVO specific..but like I said I will continue to look and keep you posted on what I find or not....LOL...

              Thanks

Two 1/4 inch drill bits and a small pry bar works in a pinch too. I just takes two hands and some patience...
