  • Shift Knob Removal

I recently bought my first SVO (86 9L) it has 57 xxx miles on it and i want to bring her back to all of her glory. It is in pretty good shape. The first thing to fix is the shifter. The guy distroyed it, it is so bad that it cuts my hand.

I got a hurst shifter that is very similar and i was wondering how to get the old one off with out destroying it worse than it is. any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated

        ...maybe.

....try to actually tighten it some more to 'break' it loose. There is a nut up inside the knob.....bad use of words....

Edit: true true Rich......I guess I assumed he saw that.....

isnt there a nut that is pushed up against another one to make sure it doesnt loosen?

Yep...You get to it from under the boot once you take out the four bolts on the four corners of the boot. Then you can kind of turn the boot "inside-out" and get to the nut.
