  • Parking brake question

Ok, Ok, i know you guys have talked about this over and over but my e-brale cable broke. I found out that Raybestos makes a replacement, the part number is BC93273. It is available mostly only online at Kragen or Napa and discountautoparts.com or 50resto.com. Same part number (except on 50resto.com), around $40-50 each or about $60-80 for both. My question is... is this the same cable for other cars that i can easily find in a boneyard maybe off of a Mark VII or something? I know the Turbocoupes have rear disc but i cant remember why it wouldn't work when i saw one in the J/Y. I don't feel like waiting 2 weeks for shipping. Any ideas???

Mustang e-brake is in the trans tunnel. 'Bird and Mark are in the left kick panel.

Eric is right. The Lincoln and Tbird have foot operated emergency brakes mounted under the lert side of the driver's dash. The SVO, like all 84-86 Mustangs, has a hand operated emergency brake on the center tunnel between the seats. Because of the combination of hand operated center handle and rear disc brakes, the SVO uses a cable unique to itself and perhaps the 93 Cobra.

We are VERY lucky these are still available, even if they are expensive!

I agree about them still being available. I checked, the 93 cobra ones arent the same??? I dunno why??? Whatever! Im gonna get um from dicount autoparts i think or 50rest, they seem to have the best price. You guys think i should buy both new even though only one broke? Probably a good idea huh? Thanx.

BTW, i searched and searched on discountautoparts and i couldn't find any other car with the same part number ebrake cable soo.... Im SOL on the J/Y idea.
