ok can you just replace the bulbs? i have extra lenses for mine and the housings look good. when i turn them "on" they dont come on. they never worked in my 85 gt either. i want them to work. if i can replace just the bulbs, what size are they? is there anything to check? is this a common problem? can i have some money?

I think someone posted another tread on this do a search(upper right hand corner) You'll find your answer, I don't know off hand. They are 12v bulbs so you could hook the lights directly up to your battery and ground to see if the bulbs work before you blow the $8(i think) on new ones.

Driving Lamps

Well, according to Ford those are driving lamps, not fog lights. They also will not work unless the low beams are on. Power to the driving light switch is disabled if the high beams are on or if the headlamps are off. So give that a try first before you go trying to fix something that just may not be broken.

You can pick up the bulbs at Autozone or similar. They are H2's if memory serves me right.

The bulbs come with flat metal blades that clip in the holder. Buy a new set so that you can see what parts are supposed to stay with the housing and which do not.

The halogen bulbs get pretty hot, so you could have some burnt wires inside the housing.

I have read at the Tbird sites about installing a relay for the lights and also a way for them to come on when the high beams are on. I haven't done this myself.

as pat said, the driving lights only work on low beam -- they won't work when the headlights are off, or when the headlights are on high-beam.

Pat -- I agree with you that they should be Driving lights-- BUT -- the switch says FOG

Another Helpful Hint...

One thing to remember that just like when you replace any halogen bulb you should NEVER touch the glass / bulb itself. The oils from your skin will shorten the life of the bulb. Always use a clean lint free cloth or gloves to install the bulb. I was just thinking if I added up all the $0.02 worth of info that I've posted I'd have a couple of bucks by now!
