  • master cylinder

    The master cylinder went on my 86 on theway home tonight. I have a brand new master cylinder for a 96 GT left over from another car. Can I use it in my SVO??

    From looking at the part numbers, it doesn't look like a match. With something as important as your brake system, I wouldn't try to make do.

    NAPA, AutoZone, and PartsAmerica have the remanufactured cast iron Master Cyl. from $22 to $35 plus core charges.

    You can check out the part cost and numbers on their online store.

      Autozone sells a remanufactured one for $29.89 with core exchange. Fenco M1897.

          Ok I called my auto parts store where I get a discount through work and they only sell brand new ones for a SVO and they are around $110. Is this the aluminum one or would it be an iron one? They have it in another store so I couldn't go see for myself

            bought a new one a couple years ago

            It was a raybestos and was new and was cast iron and was $100. Hope that helps...

              Based on the price, that is the aluminum one. They had it listed as well on the http://www.partsamerica.com/ site.

              Check out there site. They have pictures of most items.
