  • 86 fog lamp problem

    Hi,

Just the other night I turned off the foglamps and guess what? They won't come back on!!! The switch is stuck in the ON position, the yellow light does NOT come on and the lights aren't on. I don't have my wiring diagrams here and don't even have a tester, but any ideas? Can I bypass the switch and have them always on? I usually run with them on anyway since the headlamps have yellowed (replaced them about 7 years ago).

    Thanks,

    it's pretty common problem.

Those switches tend to melt, along with the wiring connecting them. --

you should really check the wiring over GOOD before running them.

I've got the same problem, I opened up the switch and sure enough its melted. I guess its a waste of time to try to replace this switch cause isn't it discontinued? How can I wire around this make the foglights and the little switch bulb stay on all the time?

I think you would be better off getting a working switch and wiring it so it controls a relay and the relay controls the lights. Works alot better.

Well, I just soldered the the old switch to stay on all the time, even the little LED comes on, you just can't operate the switch lol.

Looks stock, functinonality is 0, but bigod my foglights work.
