intercooler

I'm a turbo newbie so this may sound like a dumb question. But I also live by the only dumb questions are the ones not asked.

If I did a conversion to a Volvo intercooler, is the intercooler itself filled with anything like freon or does water travel through it from the cooling system?? and it that the case for the stock intercooler on my 86?

Nothing but air goes through the factory and/or a Volvo cooler.

... and every other factory take off Intercooler is an Air to Air set up as well.

Some exotic ones are water cooled but they probably cost more than the average SVO.

The Syclone/Typhoon intercoolers are liquid/air ICs.
