I hope someone can answer this question for me!!I was wondering if the air vane meters from the 87-88 T-BIRD turbo coupes are better than the one in my 1986 SVO ?? I have heard they are bigger and flow better than the stocker in my SVO!! Is there any truth in this!!And what is involved in the swap !!And does the air vane meter have to come from a 5 SPD 87-88 turbo coupe or is a auto o.k ???Please someone shed some light on this subject for me!!!!!thanks
The 84-86 SVO's already use the large VAF. The 83-86 Turbocoupes and 83-84 Mustang GT Turbos used the small VAF. For 87-88 the Turbocoupe went to the large VAF that the SVO used.
Thank you for answering the question i had!!I was just wondering because I see alot of people asking for the 87-88 t-coupe vain meters!!!I wanted to know why!!!So i could use a 87-88 t-coupe vain meter for a spare if I needed to for my 86 SVO ??
Yes, you could use the large TC VAF as a spare for your SVO. The main reason people, not necessarily SVO owners, want the large VAF is to upgrade their non-SVO cars that came with the smaller unit. A computer change and possibly fuel injector replacement to the brown top injectors is also needed to complete this upgrade.
