MY 86 SVO DOES THIS WHEN IT IS FIRST CRANKED UP COLD:

RUNS REAL ROUGH THEN IDLE GOES WAY LOW THEN TO ABOUT 800, AFTER 30 SECONDS OR SO, IT GOES TO 1500 UNTIL I RAP THE GAS A LITTLE. ONCE WARMED UP IT RUNS FIN EXCEPT FOR AN OCCASIONAL HUNTING IDLE. WHICH SENSOR COULD IT BE?

more than likely - it's the TPS. But, why not hook up a code scanner and relieve all doubt?

I had a similiar situation on my 88GT and 84 SVO and I replaced the IAC motors and this cured the problem.
Like bud said hook up a scanner and remove all doubt.
