  • Intercooler question?

Hey Yal got away from that T.V. set today to play after the earth quake that we had and before the snow storm to come! And that an't no lie! Took the SVO for the monthly spin and went thru 1, 2nd and going into 3rd, and heard a real loud swootch! Car kind of lost power! I kind of new what it was creeped back not to far from house. Got back looked under the hood! The lower intercooler hose blew off the bottom of my turbo coupe cooler. What and how do I get this hose to stay on? and what do I do to cover that vacum tee that is on the side of the intercooler?I really want the volume of that cooler and it looks cool! Now while I wait for you guys to respond I going to catch up on my Dr. Phil show! Ha Ha Ha you know you like the guy? Maybe we can get a episode on SVO lover's ? Thanks Jeff Dunevant

You can have a bead welded around the intercooler so that the hose has something to grip (best), use an abrasive to remove the paint so that there is a grippier surface (better) or get a heavy duty band clamp.

I used the vacuum tee for my bypass valve, but I'm sure you could just cap it off.

Well, you might want to go out there and take it off again.

This time take some brake cleaner with a rag and wipe down the inside of the hose and the outsides of the flanges.

let em dry for a minute, then get some hairspray and spray a bit onto the flanges, let it get tacky and then put the IC back on.

You may also want to check that your hose-claps have not "tear-dropped" or are coming apart.
