Has anyone ever installed a Apexi AVC-R boost controler?
Got one from a wrecked car. There are a lot of options on the controler and it would be nice to be able to use them.

Also what is the best way/place to tap into the computer wiring harness? I know you can't use electrotaps. I was thinking standard twist, solder, and heat shrink.
    Any suggestions appreciated.

You should probably try to download an instruction sheet from them. They are fairly expensive units loaded with cool functions. Solder and shrink wrap the best way to go. Post some pics when you get it installed. I believe there are a few guys a www.turboford.org using this boost controller.
    Just another '84 9W.

I'm not familiar with that controler, -- but I don't know why it would plug into the computerat all

The stock boost controler isn't plugged into the computer -- So I can't see why the aftermarket would be ??? (not directly anyway -- just the switch for hi/low boost)

The one I saw used on a Subaru tapped into the EEC. It's an electronic boost controller, but it also reads off the EEC and various engine sensors.

Best bet is to do as Will suggested .. find and download an instruction book on it.

Yeah a lot of us do use them, I have a MBC on my Eclipse but my friend has the old style AVC-R with the knobs in his Talon and he loves it andf got a good deal on it too, I hear a lot of good things about them from many DSM guys.

I am attaching a screen shot of the wiring diagram I found for the AVC-R
It looks do able to me, not too sure about the speed sensor though.

                    SVO's don't have a VSS (speed sensor)

If it is needed for this setup, you can probably get one out of a 87-88 turbocoupe -- it goes in the transmission, and has a wire that runs to the EEC (which you would just run straight to the boost controler)

It's a seriously fancy boost controller with things like gear specific boost control, multiple boost settings etc. The only problem is getting all those things set up and wired. Personally, if I was going to buy any electronic controller, it would be a Profec B.
