manifold gasket?

Does an "84 SVO have an exhaust man. gasket?My manifold leaks and someone told me the don't use a gasket and my man. is more than likely cracked.

usually when they crack it is down next to where the turbo mounts.

STOCK -- these came without manafold gaskets -- as long as your surfaces are true-- they will seal up without them. --

The heat, and pressure the turbo produces will eat gaskets.

Leaky Exhaust Manifold

If your exhaust manifold leaks, it's probably because the E3 main log is cracked between #2 and 3 cylinders on the top wjhere they usually go. The easiest fix is to find a good E6 manifold and replace it.

No exhaust manifold gasket was used on the factory install. Felpro makes a gasket for the application that you can use if it makes you feel more comfortable on the reassembly.

The Felpro gasket won't last... I put one on mine when I rebuilt the engine, thinking "It came with my engine rebuild set, so it must use one". but it burned up, and started leaking. After seeing many posts about this, I decided no to install a new one. Now it doesn't leak anymore... Just clean up the surfaces really well.

how many miles

did it last before it started leaking. was it fried or did the bolts just keep backing out?

It seems like it started leaking pretty quick. Maybe 10k miles or so. I've only driven 30k since the rebuild.

My car is lucky to see 3k a year. so we are looking like 3 years. not bad.
