  • White smoke?

Just got the new turbo on the rebuilt motor new head ported and all the good stuff.
Have run an ihi on it for 1 year bout 3000 miles on it so the motor is good, la3, bpv, front mount ic, 12 psi on the new turbo, 93 gas,
10 degrees on timing, rollers ranger cam.
Boost is getting quicker every time I drive it starts at 2400 and 12 psi at 3000 or so. pulls strong and steady,

When I change gears bout 1 sec later white smoke comes out and then stops with the trubo comes in.
strong pull then same thing next gear.
Does not die on rpms when out of gear,
    motor runs very smooth

I can ease out of the boost and change gears with no smoke.
i took the bpv off with no change. could hear it doing its job tho.
The only thing That I changed was the o2 on the turbo.

Had old one on the shelf caused the old one broke off in the elbow of the ihi.

The smoke just hangs in the air, I got out and stood in it trying to smell gas or oil,, If any thing it smelled gas but could not tell for sure, more like brake or clutch.
    Any ideas???
and found out that the front brake cap is stuck, may be the brake smell.
Time to clean up the engine bay!

May need a screen between the valve cover and the inlet. Do you have an 84? Is the rest of the engine (chevy owners call them motors) fresh?

bronse valve seals, big valves from a chevy,
Thats where that motor thing comes from

This is a fresh engine and head that has the 3000 miles on it.
Head was done by a pro, runs 2.3 dirt tracks and does heads and rebuilds engines as his first job.
Car has run great until now.
Valve cover vents to the ground thru a hose pvc is new.
I am changeing the o2 out tonight,
      Have not run codes yet,
Just now did I thing of that.
84 svo intake is 88 tc with 35# injectors.
Will run again monday to see what is going on.

I think pat was suggesting that you may be sucking oil into the intake from the valve cover vent.

Check your PCV valve for one--

Mike was asking what type of valve stem seals you used..

White smoke is normally burned oil ( could be antifreze, but I don't think so in this case.)
