  • Need Opinions on this Intercooler

Friend of mine is selling this intercooler rated at about 400-450hp. It mounts perfectly in a 87+ foxbody without any modification to rebar, radiator supports, bumper cover, etc.

Measures 35 1/2 inches long from the end of each end tank. 8 1/2 inches tall, and 2 1/2 inches wide.

It has 2 1/2 inch inlet / outlets.

To my best knowledge, it was constructed from a PowerStroke intercooler. I think it was halved and welded together with new end tanks.

I know many people seem to mount their intercoolers behind the radiator, but I am curious to see if anyone has tried something similar and if this will work with the SVO bumper cover. I test fit it Friday, so I guess I am just trying to get a "heads up" to see if we would be wasting our time before we go ahead and take off my bumper cover and try it on.

You'll need to do a test fit .. really can't tell much from the photos.

Crikey...look at the size of that beaut! Is an intercooler that tall actually able to fit in front of the radiator? I've only seen that particular one installed behind the radiator.

Yeah - it fits in front of the radiator, but requires removal of the A/C condenser to properly fit .. there's a current thread on it ... here ..

Yeah I read that. In Florida, ditching your A/C purposely is suicide.

Well I'm going to go ahead and trial fit this intercooler probably this weekend. I shall let everyone know what happens.

My large NPR is between my AC condenser and radiator. The radiator is a ranger core with SVO end tanks. The NPR fits about the same as a Volvo IC, it is just shorter by 2".

I also rebuilt the hoses to and from the IC since the outlets are now bigger and pointed in a different location.

Reference my Volvo install for details... www.rothfam.com/svo/volvo
