  • Motion-Dynamics intercooler upgrade

Has anyone used or know anything about motion-dynamics intercooler upgrade. It says it is capable of supporting 350 hp and flows over 500 cfm at a 1.5 psi pressure drop all in the original intercooler housing.

Some time ago I remember seeing a thread on this where MD was supposedly going to do some dyno testing on one of these modified SVO intercoolers. I don't know if that's ever happened but if you do a search you might be able to find some more info on the subject. Regardless of how well they claim that thing flows initially as long as it remains in the stock position it will become heat soaked quickly in real world application and the efficiency of the unit will be greatly diminished. I would love to hear from someone with personal experience saying otherwise but from everything I've seen and read here a front mount intercooler appears to be the only way to go for a serious upgrade.

Thanks for the input. I figured it that it wasn't the best idea, but had to ask.

A Volvo front mount intercooler is a low priced option, they can be had for less the $40 bucks on eBay. 20 times cheaper than what Motion Dynamics wants.
        Just another '84 9W.
