    i need to replace my steering rack, and i work for NAPA, when i look it up there are two choices that i find, 1 is trw design which i thought it was and the other is "with performance suspension" i dont know which one to choose. does anyone know the oem # for a 84 svo and is it different than other years? thanks again kevin

    also i hope this thread goes here and not engine

    Take a look at the fact sheet for the info you want. The '84 did have a different ratio than the others. 20:1 as opposed to 15:1.

    I think most guys with 84s upgrade when they need a new rack unless they are keeping it in stock condition.

      ok, i looked at the facts sheet, when i get to work tomorrow i want to look for a rack for an 86 right? bolt up and everything will work? i wont have to remod everything?

        I upgraded my 84 to the later Fox 15:1 "high effort" rack used on the 85 and later Mustang GT's and SVO'. It is one of the best mods I ever did! You will have to replace the high pressure hose to do the swap. The 84 SVO hose won't fit the 15:1 rack. I used the hose for an 85 Mustang 2.3 NA application.

          i got the 15:1 rack today, i guess i will have to get the new hose too, i was going to replace them anyways buts thanks for letting me know which hose i need, 54 bucks for a steering rack, oh i love getting parts at cost, thanks people, kevin
