  • Anyone have a problem w/ bent stock wheels?

I bought an 85.5 a year ago with worn out tires, and assumed that the shaking was from the worn out tires. Recently I have been breaking studs (assuming from vibration), and came to realize that I have 3 bent wheels (like 1/16 - 1/8 side-to-side movement). Just last week at Carlisle I bought a set of wheels, tried them out, and they are also bent. I can prove that my hubs are round, since: the spare and one of my wheels spins round in 2 positions 90 degrees apart from each other. The car does spend a lot of time sitting, especially in the Winter here in Michigan. Are these wheels known for this problem? Does the hot to cold affect them? Does sitting for months at a time affect them? Any input from anyone would be very helpful.

This is not common unless the car they were on had been in an accident and the wheels were traumatized somehow....you need to take the wheels and mount them on a balancer with a runout gauge and determine if they are bent on the rim edge or are center bent....if they are center bent you might as well make a clock or hose reel out of them...if the rim edge is bent then Wheel Worx could most likely fix them for you.

Breaking wheel studs is VERY odd....you have some other issue there I think since a wheel(unless severly bent) would not cause that....
