  • A-pillar Guage Pods

Curious to see what everyone is using for mounting guages to the A-pillar. I'm not to fond of the screw in "pod" type mounting solutions, so I'm pondering whether or not the full guage pillar from Autometer will fit into a pre-87 foxbody.

    i like them

i got one from autometer for a 87-93 mustang and painted it with SEM charcoal, it is a double gauge pod. i put a a/f meter and boost gauge in it, it seems to fit well, i used two sided tape to hold it on, so far it is working, kevin

my gauges are 2 1/16" also

Alan, not really sure what your asking but i have the dual 2 1/16" a pillar pod and it looks great. If your asking wether the FULL gauge pod (3 gauges) will fit an SVO the answer is NO. Though the actual trim piece will bolt in to stock trim pieces the bottom gauge pod will hit our dashboard. Take a look at a 87-93 mustang and notice how the end of the dash actually goes down lower for a speaker, this is where the extra room for the 3rd gauge comes from, and our dash stays high all the way to the edge.

Alan is this why you are asking for trim in the wanted section? I grabbed a left side trim from the junkyard so i didn't have to worry about holes or tape messing up my stock one. Next time I'm at the yard I'll check for you, but it won't be till next week.

          87 full pillar

I tried this and it was a no go. I got the standard single pod and used superglue (a lot of super glue) To fill all the cracks and smooth it out. it looks like one peice now. it is heavy but who cares. The glue I used was a 2400cps superglue (gell). It filled the gaps and then i hit it with an accelerator to make it harden instantly. after it was dried i sanded it until all the seams were gone. I then found some paint to match and wala.

            SEM paint

Hey ByteMe how do like the match of the SEM paint?? I've been singing praises of this paint since I've used it. I think it's a dead nuts ringer for the original. Upon redyeing original parts whether they need it or not I tested it on one side and left the other au natural. I couldn't tell a diffference.....just wondering your opionion??? Sorry to drift OT

              sem color

well, when i started spraying my dash pad, i thought the can was messed up, i couldnt see any color change, and then where i repaired it and it had some discoloration i saw that it was working, i think it is a perfect color match, i got the idea maybe from u on another thread, i have heard of SEM from others and i am sold

not drifting at all, if alan is going to go that route, he is going to need this paint

Well thanks for the input.....I'm not trying to toot my own horn...I was just looking for some honest feedback from someone who had used it besides me. Everyone seems to be trying to locate orginal ford paint which isn't made anymore. Yeah I though I bought invisible paint when I first used it. Thanks for your input.

You and your fantastic junk yards...I'm jealous. Thanks for taking a look for me. Just for ****s and grins I'm going to check out a local Cophers to see if there is anything hiding locally. The only Fords I ever see are old LTD's, crown vics, and thunderbirds.

Thanks for the info on the paint. I'm going to stop by a NAPA and see if they stock the stuff.

I doubt NAPA sells SEM. Go to their website http://www.semproducts.com/ and look under the referral map section and find your sate. Usually they only supply to places that supply body shops in a certain area. If you can't find a supplier close to you then email them, the guys there are great with customer service. I got my cans for $9 each. I would recommend getting a "plastic prep"(thats the name) can too to make sure the surface is properly prepared. They also sell external paint too for bumpers that looks like a dead ringer...but I can't vouch for it's match to the PPG stuff that the other guys have gotten. The paint is great but as far as external match I haven't gone there yet. They also make a great trim black that is every bit as good as the factory paint....durability and color match.

Car-quest sells SEM stuff locally -- but I have seen Napa's that do cary it.

Of course -- they don't ever keep the colors I want to look at

well i was looking at my SEM chart guide and the color name is not charcoal, i cant remember what i bought. the colors i see that r close are 15053 Granite, or 15303 Graphite, the #'s look close to me so i dont know which one i used, i am leaning towards the Granite #15053

Is there anybody who can verify the correct number of the SEM paint to use. My can of Ford original SVO gray is running out and I have more interior parts to paint.
