If your PCV systems is still the factory set up, then you should get some oil residue in the intake track from the vent canister on top of the valve cover that returns crank case gases back into the intake just before the turbo. However, it shouldn't pour out. If this is the case, then you could be getting excessive blow-by that is forcing oil from the valve cover area into your intake track.

A defective PCV valve allow boost pressure to pressurize the crankcase and force oil into the intake via the PCV system. Worn or sticky piston rings will also allow excessive blow-by.

Replace your PCV valve with the Motorcraft one, EV-127. Install a gas filter (clear type) between the vent canister on top of the valve cover and the line leading to the turbo intake. This will help catch the suspended oil in the vapors and also show you if this is the source of the oil. If oil puddles in the gas filter, then this is the source of the oil. If not, the filter will just become discolored by the oil vapor.

You should clean your intire intake including the IC, TB, and upper intake. Use electronic spray cleaner to clean the VAM and intake cleaner for the rest.

Mike Fleming has done a written an excellent explaination of how the closed PCV system on our cars. Do a search here for the thread.

well first of all, i have no idea how i got this under "Interior/Body" i must have been reading another post, sorry. OK this engine only has about 340 miles on it and everything was stripped down and repainted, it was down to a bare block, with every engine part removed cleaned or replaced, so that is how long it has taken to build up the level it had. I now have a Gillis boost valve on it and the boost is upped from stock to between 18 psi and 19psi (man what a difference), and my cam cover or valve cover or my rocker cover, the thing on top that covers all the small moving parts does have a single spout that connects back to the front of the turbo, this is a 84. the PCV valve was change also and i did use motorcraft for that but most of all the other parts were NAPA. i am going to do like Mike Flemming said and watch it but i hate to have to take this thing apart all the time to clean it, i finally got it back together and someone gave me a small black round breather lookin something to put there, i might add that to see if that slows it down. i was just suprised when i saw that much oil that far forward, kevin

and mike i am sure u meant brake cleaner not brake fliud right?

        Byteme,

If your engine doesn't have the small black breather thingy on the back of the cam cover then that is your problem. The black canister acts to cool the vaporized oil, collect, then drain back into the top of the engine.

        It looks like this.

yeah i have 2 svo covers, and 1 t-bird cover. i have a breather like that. i was trying to fit it to the nipple on top of my svo cover. i had it all rigged up. i just have the hose to the pipe to the intake now. and no ic brackeets. lots cleaner. but when i was first turning the engine over, i had oil, so i put that breather on, i went lookin for a new one, and no luck. since the car has ran(not driven, and no boost) the oil is out of the intake tract. i guess i have to wait til boost. oh and....................now recruiting volunteers to help with heater core. or just do it for me.

The '84 has a tube that is part of the valve cover. You will need to connect a small piece of rubber hose between the valve cover nipple and the canister nipple.

I think that statement says a lot. Your engine will pass more oil (blow-by) until the rings are seated and all the new parts get acquainted in their new home. At 340 miles, it's no where near broken in yet.

Good point! A proper run in of the engine takes several THOUSAND miles. Don't get too anxious about a little oil in the intake just yet.

Do install the oil separator on your valve cover. It will help control the oil vapor problem.

So "ByteMe" (Is that your real name? Were you beaten up alot as a child?) what rings and what bore finish does this engine enjoy? Have you run a recent leakdown test?

i havent done a leakdown test yet, i'm sending the car in for body work and paint soon so i'll do that when i get it back, i am pretty sure the rings i put in were moly top ring, and i dont remember what grit i used to final hone the cylinder walls but i know it was fine, not 180 or less. now this is the first time i have had the air box off since the rebuild, i put a K&N filter on, and i noticed it then, i did have a bad oil leak if anyone remembers that 6 months ago, i havent done anything with the oil leak but its gone now, so i think that might have something to do with it, the oil build up could have been there from the first 100-200 miles and not building up now, i am going to keep checking it when i get my car back. now onto Kenny, is that ur way of asking me to help with the heater core? thanks all, KEVIN---------MY NAME IS KEVIN

my 86 has 32k on it and has been sitting for 4 years and driven a short distance only once during that time. I am having the pressure build up in the crankcase thing happening,I have replaced the pcv and cleaned the lines. Would there be a possibilty that the rings are gummed up from sitting and thus causing the crankcase problem (blow-by) and do you recommend I get the forced4 filter kit. oh yes the dip stick has also blown out under boost (what a goddamned mess!)
