  • Infamous intermitant miss at idle

My SVO has a regular miss at idle...almost like dropping a heartbeat every 10 seconds or so. I was told by the local turboford guys that this is an infamous problem.

All the ignition components have been replaced with new OEM parts - plugs, wires, coil, oxygen sensor, fuel filter, and 190 lph pump. The original fuel pressure regulator has been replaced with a Kirban unit at stock pressure. Base timing is at 10 degrees. I have a rebuilt motorcraft distributor and new TFI module ready to install this weekend.

    Suggestions?

    Thanks

Check your TPS lately or cleaned the IAC?

Pull codes. If there are no codes, check for rotten wiring to the TFI module plug.

My 84 SVO did the same thing. The Smog Police said it had a misfire and wouldn't pass it. After installing a new O2 sensor, the idle dips 2 or 3 times per second but it passes smog and things are great.
