  • Fuel Injector "Spacers"?

Hey all. I'm cleaning the throttle body, upper/lower intakes, replacing gaskets, etc. I'm also having the injectors cleaned/flow matched. When I removed the injectors, I found three "C" shaped spacers (look like little C-clips) in the injector ports. I've never seen these before. I guess there was one in each port and I lost one when I pulled the injectors/fuel rail out. What are these for? Can I get these at any parts store? Will the injector shop have these?
My SVO is an '86 with stock 35# injectors.
    Thanks

are you talking about the white washer type of rings that are on behind the O-ring ?

If that is what you are talking about, yes, you should get new ones with the o-rings, and pentile caps.

      The black c spacers

I had these on my car too. 2 were in peices and 2 good. I yanked all 4 and forgot about them. If they are important I wouldnt know. My car ran fine without. If you find some let me know where and I would put them in maby.

        the black C spacers

Thanks for the replies. I guess I won't worry about replacing the spacers. If I find the missing fourth spacer, I'll put it in, otherwise no big deal.
By the way, is it normal for the Fel-Pro gaskets to not have the same shape cut-out as the lower intake-to-head? The ports are D-shaped of course, but the gasket cut-outs are round. Is a better-matched gasket available?
        Thanks again.

          dear mr. mike flemming,
the way i see it, there are only two ways that you can know all of this stuff. one way is to be a really good bull****ter to make everyone think you know what you are talking about. and the other, you would have to be a genius. since so far all of the advice i received from you has steered me right, i believe that you are a genius. i dont get it. did you help develop these cars? or strictly ford mechanic? sometimes you really amaze/scare the hell out of me.

Fel-Pro kits come with the oval gasket - I've heard of people using it. Seals fine at the head to manifold junction, just a different port shape.

You can still get the stock D-shaped paper gasket from Ford.

Being the first does not necessarily preclude on from being the second. (Examples: Michael Milken, Bill Gates, whoever it was who invented derivatives, and the guy who sells aluminum foil hats to wear so you won't get a ticket from a radar gun)
