Got it back together. Started right up.
But I must have ruined the fuel line to fuel rail connector because it leaks ALOT !
So now what? Is this something I can repair using the likes of Advanced Auto? (please say yes)
Here's a pic of it back together...not all spruced up yet!

    Chris,

There is a replaceable o-ring in the connection that is probably the culprit. You will need something like the pick thingy that the dentist use to get it out. And while you are the part store, pick some new plastic locking clips that secure the fuel line to the fuel rail.

By the way, the engine bay locks good. A little Castrol Super Clean and pressure washer and she'll be lookin like new.

        do it right

If you dont havre the fuel line tool. Get it(like 8 bucks). Next get new ford duck bill and hair pin clips for the fuel line. Most stores have them. Get an assortment of orings rated for fuel line use. More than likely the oring fell out of the fitting while it was off the car. Look inside if no oring bingo. either way I would replace all the orings on the injectors as well as fuel rail connections unless they have been done recently. These cars are 18 years old.

        good luck

          Thanks Team

I think I have replaced all that is replacable (except for the knock sensor). I somehow screwed up on the fuel line. Oh well!!!!
Thanks for your input over the last 3 months. Hopefully I can fix this fuel leak tomorrow!
Too bad the roads are ice coverecd. My driveway is a mess so no test drives.

            One last question

The fuel line that is leaking is the duck-bill fitting to the fuel rail. I foolishly disconnected this with the use of jeweler screwdrivers inserted into the connection. I had no idea it was a special connection. Anyway it did come apart and I assumed I had not damaged anything. Is there an o-ring inside there or do I just need another NEW clip. My Haynes manual discusses removing the fitting after the duckbill clip is removed. (I certainly wish I had read THIS first). So...do I need a new clip and fitting?
Also I reused the hairpin connectors and those lines appear to be fine. The manual also discusses using new clips here as well. Should I pick up new ones and replace these as well?
            Thanks
            Chris

I would imagine a Digital one .. that's what I use. Forget the old traditional way such as; buy film ($$) .. take pics .. go have film developed .. pay for pictures ($$) .. scan pictures .. UGH!

I love toys! My digital camera is a Sony DSC- F505V. If I had another one I'd take a picture of the camera and post it as well.
I'm off to the parts store yet one more time for fuel line fitting. And I might as well get a big ol bag of salt to try and thaw my driveway so I can do some driving before the emissions test..
24 Hours of Daytona just ended so my wife is smiling again.

                    UPDATE

Well I took the break in the weather and my thawed driveway as my window to get the old girls' emissions checked.
Flunked HC again (1.8000 GPM Pass, I had 1.8844)!! But I got my waiver for work done so I'm good until Oct 05.
But MAN......does that thing run good now. Much much better than in October. The rear wheel break loose when she spools up to max boost. Stunning! I'm still smiling. And I love the smell of curing engine paint. I honestly forgot how much fun that thing is to drive. And I haven't even fine tuned the TPS (I just put the new one in the same position as the other one). I wonder what made the difference?
No. 1 injector is still a tad moist though. But I'm glad this chapter is over. Now I'll shine her up!!
Thanks again for all your help. I'll be sure the right people get the right beverages next Fall.

                      Chris,

I'm kinda suprised you didn't pass straight out. Did you ever get the new O2 sensor installed?

Did the inspect tech say what might cause the high HCs?

                        I Don't Know

                        Mike
I got the O2 sensor out with a killer ratchet breaker bar (loaned Snap On), extra pipe, and the wackiest socket I've ever seen. My brother in law (BMW Tech) tells me Snap On are second to none. The socket had an "ear" at the base where the breaker bar snaps in. It gave "screach/pop" without heat!
                        Anyway I replaced:
                        O2 sensor
                        EGR Valve
                        Injectors
                        Fuel Pressure Regulator
                        Oil Pressure Sender
TPS (again this is No. 3)
                        Coolant Temp Sensor
                        Engine Temp Sensor
                        IAC
                        All hoses
and cleaned up everything I could.
(I did not replace the knock sensor)
All I can figure is the CAT could be bad
                        OR
That 50% 18 month old gas and 50% new gas just wasn't a good enough mix. I did not have the time or facilities to drain the tank (being Winter in Maryland)!
It does kind of bug me all that work produced no improvement. But it does run a hell of a lot better, and I am not kidding. It accelerates like it was new. New oil and the third new batch of coolant in 4 months make me real comfortable that I have my SVO back to spec. And it looks nice under the hood!
The kid at the inspection had no clue as to why it failed (why would he?) but the Waiver Writer guy said he'd never seen such a nice Mustang (he had to see if I did the actual work (receipts).
But what is most important to me is SVOCA gave me the desire and focus to bring my parked jewel out of hibernation, and for this I will always be thankful. If not for you guys I might have just let it sit and collect dust. Don't get me wrong...I have loved this car since the day I bought it new, but I never knew there was a forum to help owners like myself, afraid to drive these cars for fear of unrepairable accidents. I tip my hat to this site! Consider me a Charter Member.
                        Most Best Regards
                        Chris
                        PS
And the Daytona 500 thing is on in my small of friend(s) circle. If SVO's are coming please let me know so I get enough wings! There is this place in D.C. that has Super Sized (raw) chicken wings almost the size of turkey wings. (I cook) Makes for more fun, less bone!

that TPS not being "fine tuned" could cause some of your problems

                              10 days till the 500.

I wonder what it costs to overnight those wings to L.A. LOL!

The local L.A. contingent is welcome at my house to watch the Busch Clash and the 500.

Those HC's are through the roof. It's probably the only two items that didn't get done (TPS adjust and a new cat).
