  • Rod's header

OK it is finally on. and true to his word it is flat and sealed right up with no gasket. 11degs in my garage and still started fine. I paid 480 including shipping. If it lasts the summer i will post agian. My ATR lasted 3 seconds the first time and 3 hrs the second time and cracked again after 1 week. so for the 20 min idle time Rods is the champ.

Bolt on was easy and strait forward. This was a direct bolt up everything fit fine the egr was a little out of wack but no big deal.

so far i give it a thumbs up.

I have few thousand miles on my header now - no problems. I did see one of his headers glowing bright orange yesterday at the Dyno (made a pull with the spout out) ... and the owner said he was having no problems with his as well. .. and it makes dyno proven HP and TQ!

IOW - I highly recommend the header too.

WOW! That baby was HOTTTTTT!!!!!! You could light a cigarette 2 feet away from it. No popping or crackling as it cooled. I own one. I haven't ran it yet, but I own it!

I would like to see more of this header. Pls give me the link to Rod. I have used the ATR for several years and it has been rebuilt 3 times by them including adding braces and being JetHot coated. Seems to be stable for now but the next time it breaks--------it goes to the can!

The only complaint I have at this point is having to re-tighten the bolts on a regular basis. I think Rod's aware of this problem and has made adjustments to correct it (different length bolts).

I have installed and raced Rod's newest grade A321 tempered header....mid mount with Tial wastegate flange. This IS a quality unit. Heavy duty and well built. I doubt I will be able to break this unit. The only crtique is the position of the flange for the Tial gate which I have mentioned back to Rod which is easily solved.

If you want a VERY well built race header......I belive this is it. I have raced a very modified SVO for around 9 years and this unit certainly solves a problem the ATR (crap) left.

I have also owned this header. Seals up beautifully, looks great, flows great. Quality piece!

Form and function together is a beautiful thing.

For the loosenign bolts, maybe some Nylock Allen head bolts with some cone washers would keep from loosening? I'm not sure of the heat rating, but we used them in the injection mold business, where temps were at a constant 500 deg.
If it ain't broke... Give me some time!

I would not trust a Nylok nut to the 1400+ degree EGTs typical. The absolute reliable method is to drill the heads of the manifold bolts and safety wire them. Easy and 100% certain. I do this for the manifold-to-head, turbo flange, downpipe flange, and wastegate flanges. Allen head bolts are easy to drill. For nuts, you will have to buy those factory drilled. Aircraft supply vendors have that as well as some of the quality racing supply people.
Fasteners coming loose can ABSOLUTELY ruin a good day!
