I want to replace the stock electric fan with an aftermarket fan and an adjustable fan temperature switch. What size and or CFM should I get? Anyone have a recommendation on a fan that they are using? Will the flex-a-lite 5.0L Mustang fan kit work?

Any of the black-magic fans will do a decent job IMO.
Been running one for years now without any probs, although i have mine on a toggle switch....so although its a pain to keep an eye on the temp gauge...its pretty common sence....when the car has been sitting in traffic.....turn on the fan.

I just talked to Phil at Flex a lite and he recommended the Black Magic (Part #150 Universal) fan as well. It has a built in thermostat, AC turn on input and manual switch input. Advance auto parts sells them for $189.99. Thank you for the recommendation!

I put a fan from a late model Taurus in my 86. I fabed up some brackets, used a heavy duty relay that is controlled by the wire that went to the factory fan, still controlled by the computer and a/c . You cannot go wrong with a late model factory fan. They pull way more air than any aftermarket fan.

If you get a fan out of a V6 Taurus that has a three-wire connector on it, it is a two speed fan. These are the ones most like to use. You will NEED a relay (I think a 70 amp is needed for these things), or you will melt wires. With the relay, the fan is great.
