  • Manifold bolt/Need help

    Hi all,

I am taking apart my 86 to clean and buff as many engine parts as I can. In the process of taking out the intake manifold I dropped one of the bolts somewhere in the chassis. I can't find it and was wondering if you all might know where I can get a couple of replacements. Attached is a photo.

    Thanks.

There's a little lip on the K-member that catches parts and keeps them from hitting the floor. The also tend to end up in a seam between the k-member and shock towers. If it fell closer to the fender apron, it might be in the frame/fender area. You'll need an extendable magnet pickup thingy to get it, unless you have long flexible skinny arms.
Also, check the spring perch... it tends to catch stuff too.
    Keep looking, you'll find it.
If it ain't broke... Give me some time!

        Hi Pat,

Is this part still made and available? Can you get it from a Ford Dealer or do you need to go to a farm equipment dealer?

That's what I want to find out too. A standard part # should be able to be gotten from the dealer. These tractor engines use the E6 and are arriving brand new on Elgin Street Sweepers in CNG form as auxiliary powerplants for the hydrostatic drive accessories.

This engine is an alternative clean air powerplant that qualifies for federal funding to municipalities in street sweeper applications. I hear that they're really cleaning up on the streets.

They are also used in small tractors, as well as the choice of power for the ever popular "Zamboni" that can be seen at work at any ice hockey game.

OOPS my bad. I listed an exhaust stud. I'll get the intake number tonight at work.

I just called a Ford tractor dealer and they don't list the numbers that Pat suggested. (Thanks anyway Pat) I'm just gonna have to get my lazy a$$ down under the car and feel around again.

Man it's been so cold in the garage this winter.

I'm afraid if I don't find it that once I take it out on the road it'll surely shake loose from where it's at and then bye-bye, SOL.

I know where I might be able to get one off a dead block but that's a 4 hour round trip and the guy who has it won't take it off and send it to me.

Oh well, one of many Homer Simpson moments when trying to restore a car.

                  All together now... D'OH!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks in advance for looking that up tonight. You rock!

Intake fastners (may not be exactly the same, they don't mention info on the end of the stud that faces outward)

                      N808163: stud M8 x 1.25 x 67.2
                      N807458: stud M8 x a.25 x 96.2 x 1.25
                      N807462: bolt M8 x 1.25 x 67.2

                        Pat,

So are these FoMoCo parts that can be ordered from a parts dept?

Where did these part numbers come from? As in which catalog?

                        Thanks again.

They came from the "Ford Power Parts, LRG-425 153 c.i. Tractor engine parts catalog" that was supplied to us with the equipment, for ordering replacement repair parts. I'm not certain how some of the parts get ordered, since there are only the basic part ID numbers, with no prefix or suffix numbers. For example, instead of having a number like E3SZ-12127-A, they would just list 12127.
