  • which plug???

I'm replacing a broken fan switch in the Xr4ti motor I have in my SVO. However, Xr's have a different connection type, thread-size, and location. So I want to put the SVO style sensor in the SVO location.

There are 2 plugs near where it's normally described (back of the block, drivers side). One up by the head, the other down by where the dipstick goes into the block.

    Which one is it?

    SENSORS AND LOCATIONS

To the best of my knowledge the sensor on the drivers (left) side top (in the head) is the oil press sending unit. The sensor below that behind the dipstick tube is the water temp sending unit for the gauge. Then there is a sensor on the lower intake where the water line comes off and thats the one that turns the fan. You can ground any of these and the gauge will go all the way up or the fan will turn on depending on which one you ground. Hope this helps.

On my Xr engine the guage sender is where the SVOs have the fan switch. and the Xr fan switch is on a different part of the intake. I do have the oil sender in the head. I know that my Xr engine has a plug where SVOs normally have the temp guage sender. That's where I want to put my fan switch (since my sender is on the intake). Basically my locations will be swapped since I don't need to pull the sensor under the intake. I just need to replace a broken fan switch.

But I found two plugs on the block. Not sure which one is correct. The one just below the head (not on the head), or the one near the bottom of the block just above the dipstick entry point.

SVOs should have one sensor and one plug in that area of the block and I was just hoping someone could look under their hood and verify which thing goes in which hole.

      Thanks

              Thanks cobra!

That looks like the top plug to me. The other plug I mentioned is down around the level of the oil cooler and not visible in that pic.

Though it should be noted that that pic is missing the fan switch found in SVOs b/c TC fans are computer controlled IIRC.
