  • Another wiring question.

So I had a small oil fire near the turbo and some of the wiring got fried. There are several of those connectors that connect one harness to another. On one sid of the harness the wires are fried, the other side of the harness is fine. But the harness connectors are toast as well.

Is it OK to just loose the harness connectors and rewire everything my self or should I try and get all new harnesses. The harness goes into the firewall.

    Thanks!
Hoping to get on the track soon

I had a couple of harneses in my car that the conectors were toasted.

Instead of hard-wiring them, I picked up some MSD connectors, and put new connectors in place of the bad ones.

You could do the same, just make sure any wires you replace, you replace with wire that is heavy enough gauge to handle the load.

the connectors were between 6-14 bucks, depending on how many connections they had inside.

here is a pic of the one I did. These connectors are suposed to be heat proof, water proof, sand proof, and dang near indestructible. I actually took a bunch of pics of this, swap, and was going to do a how-2 article, but never got around to it
