  • Timing belt replacement

I'm about to do a tune up on my SVO and replace all the belts on the car and hoses. I went down to AutoZone and got them started collecting belts. After having to show the guy my car up close that it had no smog pump ( geez some people think they know it all lol), we finnaly got to the timing belt. There computer shows my car has two different types of belts one for round tooth and one for square tooth. Now the thing that really through me a loop was they said my car requires two belts at the same time, Is this true? I'm still new to the 2.3L's, but my 93'lx didn't have two belts. Did Ford change this up to one belt or is AZ lost

    Sorry to be a bother

There is only one timing belt and if you don't have the aftermarket round tooth cam sprocket set then get the stock square tooth one.

When you go to AutoZone, you have to tell them that it is a Mustang SVO. They have a separate menu for us. The other thing to do is to go in armed with the right part number. Check out there web site for the part numbers.

Advance/Kragen/Parts America has the best parts online site with pictures of most of the parts.

Some of the hoses you will need to get from Motion Dynamics. They sell a complete set I think.

Hey thanks I thought I was going nuts, I always make sure they click the right one, its Mustang SVO on there screen. I even had him check twice while I was there watching him click Mustang SVO lol

I will log on to there site like you said and maybe it will help me out more. As for the hose set, that sounds pretty good I'm at the end of my rope with my small town parts stores :p
